However, I am a bit hesitant to say this track will do as great as Salamu Zao and Muziki Gani [with Diamond]. But at least with this one we are sure that he won’t need an Attorney soon. True love is almost unheard of in our times. You are loved with conditions. In most cases, money is a condition. You gotta have plenty of it for me to stay with you or otherwise I am gonna try to catch the next train. So when two people seems to be in love, you can bet one is taking a chance or both. When they tie a knot, you know they have just elevated their chances to the higher level. Of course that is not how it supposed to be. Love is supposed to be pure with no conditions attached. It is more sweet and enjoyable that way.
That is somehow what Belle 9 is coming up with in his new song Wanitaka. Belle 9, in my opinion, is one of the talented singers we have today. He has a good voice and he can control it well.

If life was/is a circle, then I think it is fair to say that the circle isn’t complete without regrets. At certain point of your life, you will be disappointed and hurt. No matter what you do to human race, there are fellows that will hurt your feelings to the core. They will see the bad while enjoying the coffee from the very mugs you bought with your sweat. They will walk around telling only the bad while in a real world, you have done so much to uplift them or give them the ground they are now seating on.
Even with all the regrets, what matters is how you handle those regrets and disappointments. I was watching my favorite preacher, Joel Osteen, the other day when his sermon was about remembering the good and forgetting the bad. That is what makes a difference in recycling the circle.

About two days ago I was chatting with one of the truest human beings/brothers I know, Brian Haule. Whenever Brian and I chat or talk, two things are certainly to lead our topics; music and life. Him and I come a long way. From the days we used to sit kijiweni in Upanga and count cars to the days we hustled together for education in Uganda.
In our lately conversation we discussed about the whereabouts of some of the old school bongo fleva stars. I remember we mentioned people like OCG[ Remember him with Kazeze?]. Then we wondered where O-Ten is [the dude from Morogoro and East Coast-Upanga]. I am sure if we had gone on and on with our talk, we could have reached Tanga and certainly Wagosi wa Kaya would have been mentioned alongside Joni Woka.
Little did I, or did we know that Joni Woka was cooking something new. What made him stand out from the crowd is his unique style[he goes like a drunk muthe...fu.%%$$ who would say anything]. It was nice creativity then and I believe it still resonates today. His new track is titled Mkora. Ras Lion is featured in this one. Listen Up…and ask yourself…aren’t you a Mkora?Lol

It is probably the most used asset of yours before or after cellphones [ I am told people nowadays spend 70% of their time during a day holding cellphones]. When I look at mirrors, they sometimes reminds me of Shaka Zulu movies. When whites invaded his land, they gave him a small piece of mirror as a gift. The mirror fascinated Shaka Zulu who was then a feared and powerful soldier and ruler of his people. He couldn’t believe his eyes. He smiled and his very white teeth reflected back at him. It was the best thing he had ever seen.
Years later and far away, MJ(King of Pop) once put all of us at task with his Man In The Mirror. What do you see when you look at the mirror? Do you like what you see? What does it say back to you? Do you wanna change? Be the change or else…

The year 2013 was definitely one of the best for Lady JayDee. Not only did she bounce back superbly in music , but she also ventured in television where she now have a reality show Diary Ya Lady JayDee. After 13 years in the industry, such highlights are important. When you are expected to be slowing down, a new day has just began. Songs like Yahaya and Joto Hasira became a street and corporate anthem. I’m sure it was a much needed breather for her career.
Even though she also faced major challenges including lawsuits, 2013 will probably go down the “history” lane as the year that defined Lady JayDee. She became an Anaconda. She embraced the name and image and fans accepted. Now it is time to live the image she has created for herself and juggle life as it happens.
When that fire hasn’t settled, here she is again with a brand new single Historia. In this song Jide poses a challenge and probably a question that I have personally struggled with for years. When I kick the bucket, who will remember me and most importantly how will I be remembered? Of course I don’t let such questions change any game plan for life but it matters to keep ourselves checked.

If I was asked to name 5 female artists in Tanzania that I think or believe they are exceptionally talented, Mwasiti would definitely make it in that list. She is one of the total package good product of Tanzania House Of Talent [THT] where she still spends most of her time either coaching younger artists or recording with Tudd Thomas[ Producer at THT]. Other names to come from her graduating class at THT are Barnaba [Baba Steve], Linah and Amini before Recho’s class.

It is F.R.I.D.A.Y. After a long and probably tiresome week, you get time to wind down, relax,take it easy and if possible have some fun. Of course that depends if you are one of those lucky ladies and gentlemen who don’t have to bother with “work on weekend” stuff. I don’t have weekends so to speak. The preparations of the posts you read here during the week starts over the weekend. Gather ideas, test, write drafts, edit, delete etc. Most of those crazy stuff happens on weekends. I enjoy reading and writing so usually it doesn’t feel much like work although it is such a hard work. I can hear you saying, “Lucky you Jeff”.Well…thanks…kind off.
One of the things that gives me good company as I read and write is good music. Music is food for the soul. Lucky me, this weekend I have a good music for myself and for you. It is a single titled Uwe Wangu from Grace Matata. When I saw Grace perform on stage few years ago [ I can't remember the name of the event] I thought,right away that she is a very talented artist. What was missing back then was her own voice or identity. I remember commenting how she was trying to be India Arie, Jill Scott, Tracy Chapman etc at the same time.
Few years down the road and as this song stands as a testimony, Grace has found her own voice and she is comfortably excelling. I loved this track. It is produced by Bunduki aka AK47 [ I have an article coming out soon about choosing a brand name as an artist]. Listen Up

Whenever I struggle with Tanzanian music identity issue, OffSide Trick is one of the Tanzanian duo that I listen to and settle with a broad idea that we actually have “Muziki wa Tanzania”.
