The insiders of Bongo Fleva music hailed this song way before it came out. The hype was/is; it is written by a University lecturer, Kinye Wynjones [SAUT]. That is not to say Ben Pol couldn’t have written it himself. I guess, Ben is trying to send a message to artists who struggle to do everything by themselves. Of course I know some artists can do it. However, it is never a bad idea to incorporate other people’s thoughts and talents. A sure way of not running out of ideas. That is if you don’t want to have your face look like a painted face on a banner sooner than later. After all, that is the only solid reality in a constantly shifting world like ours. Well done Ben Pol and Kinye.
The song is titled Upendo. One unique thing about the name Upendo it could be used as a noun or adjective. The same principle was deployed in this one. For none Swahili speakers, Upendo=Love.
